Education and Resources

Develop a "Best Management Practices Manual" for Maintenance at Rose Hill. This manual should be specifically developed for the special needs and requirements
of Rose Hill for landscape, hardscape, infrastructure, and historical resources.
2. Training
-
All personnel employed at Rose Hill should receive specialized training prior to being allowed to work on the grounds.

Provide education and training classes for all City Employees working at Rose Hill, especially to discuss historic resource protection.
Also discuss/train employees on how to use the "Best Management Practices" manual to address specific issues as they arise.

Provide education and training for all Prison labor utilized at Rose Hill. Require increased supervision for minimally trained personnel. Require training for
guards and or other supervisory personnel regarding rest areas, i.e., sitting on or leaning up against monuments and other historic resources. The need for using
correct equipment and correct techniques for specific tasks.
3. Proper Equipment

Provide better equipment for digging new graves, i.e., appropriately sized equipment for the small spaces and limited maneuvering room.

Provide better equipment for lawn and landscape maintenance, i.e., mowers with correctly sized mowing decks, riding mowers for open areas, etc.

Provide a Cushman or other type of maintenance vehicle for use on the Cemetery grounds.
4. Frequency

Establish maintenance quality zones (i.e., entrances, woodland edges, mature trees, etc.)

Establish weekly, bimonthly, monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual tasks (i.e., pruning, aerating, dethatching, fertilizing, mowing, etc.).
5. Cooperation

Establish a quarterly meeting between the Foundation and City Parks personnel to discuss the physical state of Rose Hill. Discussions should include: what's going well, what needs improvement, new issues, resolved issues, etc.

Cooperatively develop and or adjust the annual maintenance plan/schedule to meet the needs of Rose Hill
