Elam Alexander (1796-1863)
Elam Alexander was one of Macon's earliest citizens and designed/constructed
some of the finest homes in the city at the time. He became involved in
public education and formed several "Alexander Free Schools" The
present day "Elam Alexander Elementary School" located on Ridge Ave.
in Macon is named in his honor.
